15 songs to describe this blogger’s life

March 21, 2012

I need to post something and, frankly, I’ve been watching too much of March Madness these days to accomplish much, so I dug up this “note” from my Facebook page dating back to August 2009. I thought it was amusing, and could act as a plug for my late, great favourite band. (I think I’ve finally almost gotten over missing the Rheostatics’ Massey Hall finale in 2007, though I do still harbour a fantasy that they will one day reform with me sitting in the drummer’s chair. Seriously, I could pull it off, though Dave Bidini can be forgiven if he starts thinking I’m a stalker!)

15 Songs to Describe Your Life meme…cleverly answered

Use only song names from ONE ARTIST; cleverly answer these questions. Pass it on to people you like and include me. You can’t use the artist I used. Try not to repeat a song title. It’s a lot harder than you think!

Pick your Artist: Rheostatics  (What a surprise!)

Describe Yourself: Making Progress
How do you feel: Bad Time to Be Poor
Describe where you currently live: Shack in the Cornfield
If you could go anywhere, where would you go: California Dreamline
Your Favourite form of Transportation: Stolen Car
Your Best Friend is: Dopefiends and Boozehounds
You and your best friend are: OK by Me
What’s the weather like: Rain, Rain, Rain
Favourite Time of Day: Midwinter Night’s Dream
If your life was a TV show, what would it be called: Self-Serve Gas Station
Your fear: These Days Are Good for the Canadian Conservative Youth Party Alliance
What is the best advice you have to give: Lying’s Wrong
Thought for the day: Jesus Was Once a Teenager Too
How I would like to die: Record Body Count
My motto: Try to Praise this Mutilated World

This just reminds me how much I love and miss this band. At whatever point I shake off this mortal coil, this would provide a good set list for my wake. (Addendum: None of my answers have changed in the years since, although I now live in Saskatchewan, not on the West Coast, so the weather answer should probably change.)
